Theresa McDevitt, WHNP

I became passionate about health and education while working as a health peer educator in college. After pursuing a career in nursing, I turned my focus to women’s health, working in post-partum, labor and delivery and as a lactation counselor. During this time I realized that having the ability to work with a woman throughout her entire lifespan was where my true passion was. This led me to further my education as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner.

My approach to health in general is that knowledge is power. So often, women’s health is not discussed with the openness that other areas of health are, leaving women feeling confused, embarrassed, or shamed. My goal is to approach each patient visit with respect, curiosity and as a partner to my patient – they are the expert! I am particularly interested in helping women find methods of contraception that fit their reproductive life goals with minimal side effects. I also am interested in menopause care and improving the quality of life for women who are post-menopausal.

When not at work, I can be found running with my dog, biking, playing my violin and attempting to get better at tennis. I also enjoy being part of several book clubs and experimenting with home fermentation.
