Meet our Sonographers!
We asked them to share how long they have been in this profession, why they enjoy it, and a fun fact about themselves.
“I graduated in 1996 from ultrasound school (University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics) and have been in the ultrasound field since then. A fun fact is that I have certifications in adult echo, abdomen, neurosonology, vascular, ob/gyn and fetal echo. I have a son who is now 21, and when he was 6 weeks old I started a job in high risk obstetrics and have made women’s health my focus since then.” -Sarah
“I have been scanning for almost 5 years and I chose a career in ultrasound because I enjoyed working in healthcare prior to my ultrasound program, and I find anatomy and physiology the most interesting subjects (besides astronomy, but I ultimately decided against being an astronaut for now). I didn’t realize that women’s health was my calling until after I worked in a hospital doing all different types of ultrasounds and procedures. I have my vascular and general registries as well, so I worked with many different types of patients. I scanned everything – from ultrasound guided breast biopsies to vein ablations, but working in women’s health was my favorite. I love to see patients come back to me for ultrasounds and support them on their journey. A fun fact about me is that I’ve been taking Salsa classes for the past year. I’m happiest when I’m dancing!” -Aliina
“I have been scanning since 2017. I am curious by nature and have a LOVE of learning, so going back to college again was a blast for me. I chose sonography because I wanted to be in healthcare and I enjoy one-on-one interaction with patients. OBGYN is my passion because our bodies are AMAZING! I am an animal lover and my family has had MANY pets, including: dogs, cats, gerbils, a cockatiel, rats, rabbits, fish and a lot of fancy chickens. One animal I will never have as a pet though, is a snake.” -Kristi
“I decided that I wanted to be a sonographer during my senior in high school. I graduated from the College of St Catherine in 1998. I love my job because I really enjoy working with others and making a difference in people’s lives. I have great team of Sonographers and coworkers here at Haugen. Some of my hobbies/ interests are: yoga, biking, and spending time with my family.” -Farzana
“My original plan was to be an Audiologist, and I even got my degree from UW-Madison majoring in Communicative Disorders! After graduating, I realized that the anatomy and physiology of the human body was even more interesting than just the inner ear. So, I went back to school and have now been in the field of Diagnostic Medical Sonography for over 25 years. Fun fact about me is that my first live concert was seeing Elvis when I was 5 years old. I only remember the energy in the venue and trying to stay awake to see him perform “Hound Dog.” To this day, I love waking up on Christmas morning to Elvis’s “Blue Christmas.” – Cindi
